Individual Counseling

The first session of individual counseling provides you the opportunity to present your primary concern(s) together with a general picture of yourself.  Expectations regarding the responsibilities and commitments of the counselor and counselee are clarified.  You may expect attention to your story, understanding for your experience, compassion for painful issues, and respectful exploration of thoughts and behaviors which are hurtful to yourself or others.

You will be provided a notebook designed for you to track your own progress, noting insights gained, skills established, and areas for further work.

Each subsequent session will build upon work done in the previous sessions, integrating concerns that emerge in the course of daily life.
